    Pioneer/Poulan 655 tank sealant

I was wondering what folks are using to seal these tanks? I used several different sealants from Seal-all to a last ditch effort of Honda bond with no avail. Found these other sealants and just wondering if anyone else has used them? I would like to experiment with all of them, but that...

    List your 372xt/365xt failures.

Just curious if anyone else have been having problems out of these saws. Had two 372xt suffer a critical piston failure. One 365xt suffer a critical crankcase failure on the clutch side. What's even better is that Husqvarna does not have all the service tools for this series yet.

    Poulan 655 Air Filter

I made the filter housing a couple of weeks ago and it seemed to turn out alright. It needs a little more polishing but will probably stay how it is.

    Building a 5200/8500 hybrid

I found a 8510 concrete saw and the top end was in good shape out of all things. With this I decided to take apart my lean seized 8500 and build a hybrid from three saws. The parts I will use is a follows. I will use a new set of 5200 cases and starter assembly. I will use the top end and...

031 with odd chain brake design

I really try to stay away from the 031 saws with points as I like them very little. However, this one time a fellow brought one and said the chain will not turn. I said,"Well lets have a look". Looked it over and thought what a sorry chain brake design. Of course this is my opinion, but I...

    Poualn pro 655bp

I picked this up Monday. Fellow bought it to clean up storm damage in 1990 and used it very little since. I always regretted selling my other one years back. I would prefer this saw over a Stihl mag II. I am also looking for a full wrap handle and the filtration upgrade for it.

    McCulloch 8200

I picked this saw off of craigslist a few weeks back. Still has the original 36" bar and chain. Fellow said it belonged to his friends Dad who passed away. Looks like the saw had barley been used. Never had an old McCulloch that still had the chain brake. I do see some nice improvements on...

    Stihl 090 clutch cover.

A fellow I know has a new 090 clutch cover and was wondering how much are they worth? Figure I might get an extra for my saw.

    First square file chain

A while back I just about ruined the chain on my 5200 by cutting the depth guides down too far. So I decided to square file the chain and see how it performed. It was not bad, but did not cut all that good either. <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player"...

    Stihl 088 RPM setting

Well, it has been a while since I messed with the 088 and bought a HD filter for it and need to re-tune it. If memory serves, is 12,000 rpms the max setting for the saw? Could not find the answer in the search. Seems a lot of threads are gone.

    IPl scans

Well, I have been re scanning my Poulan Ipl with a kind of new scanner which does a fair job. Then I remembered about the micro fiche libraries I have for Poulan, McCulloch, and Echo. I tried scanning the shop manual for the sp125 and found that it was just legible, but not good enough...

Poulan 71 A electronic ignition conversion

Well, I figured I would post my findings on this. I decided to take the electronic ignition off an old Poulan 2000 and see if I could successfully mount it onto the laminates of the 71A's ignition system. After mounting and placing on the saw I found unlike the McCulloch SP125 that the...

    Found a Stihl 088

I have been looking for a 660 or 880 for a while and have found a 088. It is a very low hour saw with original bar and chain that I have just sharpened for the first time. I was really surprised how much Stihl choked down the saw to pass emissions. I rarely modify any saw mufflers, but this...

    Found a stihl 076

I believe I found a stihl 076 at a saw shop yesterday. It runs good and has real good compression. It came with a bow that I will probably sale. The fellow got it on trade and wanted $75.00 for it so it was thrown in the back of my truck. I put a starter rope in it along with a handle and...

    2100 cd compression

I am looking at a 2100 and it looks almost new. The only thing about it is the compression. The fellow says it has 120 psi compression and this seems a little low to me for that type of saw.

    Ultrasonic Cleaner

Harbor Freight had the 11.5x6x4 inch one on sale so I picked it up for $48.00 and it works great. I had an old carb that had a stopped up idle circuit sitting on the shelf. I did not want to pull welsh plugs so I stuck it in the ultrasonic cleaner and what a difference. It cleaned all the...

    Use locktite when needed.

I was using one of my McCulloch sp125s to buck some 36" oak when all of a sudden it just stopped. Not the kind of stop where it loses spark or out of gas, but instant stop. I heard it and said hmmm. So I grabbed the starter handle and the engine would not turn over. I then proceeded to pull...
