The wire trick is something I figured out some time ago. I have a spool of wire used for ele fence that works well, sometimes I wrap a twist tie wire around angle cut that does the trick. fwiw

I've had good luck with the "cut at an angle, keep it lubed" trick, but also, poke a small hole back from the tip about 1/4", put a small hook on the end of a length of a small, stiff wire, and pull it thru. takes some practice, and fooling with the hook on end of wire to double back just a bit...

I've used variable speed drills on lawnmower engines. I once had my ex-fishing buddy hold on to the wire. An inexpensive spark tester is what I use now. hth

IMHO, a lot of saws are purchased at Sears due to economical price, bought by people like above, and have no business owning a saw, don't know or have any inclination of maintaing the saw, don't know how to run a saw. When they run it in dirt or rock, or tighten chain too tight, straight gas...

Yep, got one just like that, except it was on inside of knee. Another 1/4 " would have gotten into bone. I've learned mishaps more likely to happen when one's tired.. fwiw

I've got the small 4 minute HF USC. Am very satisfied with it. put in warm water with a dollop of cheap degreaser and run 2 4 minute cycles..works great.

It's a wonder all that dust don't catch fire...:buttkick:
