We will be there Saturday for sure. And someone better have some coffee. The day just don't go right without it! Bacon done curing.... Getting smoked tomorrow.

Thats why I pack the coffee pot first and then load the saws and the rest of the gear.

My mom is, I'm quite certain, the best ever. I might have to start a thread on that. Anyway- reason I say... I called her today to see if she had a coffee pot I could borrow for the gtg... she's now checking to see if her 30 cup maker still works, and if it doesn't she'll send along 2 makers and a couple of carafes. Oh, and then she says, 'would you like me to make those pretzel things? they're good for a party' (said in a fine-tuned Minnesoh-ta Mom accent- I'm sure you're all going back and saying it that way, right? Ya. I thought so.)
If we're lucky, she'll even come on up to join my pops to see what all this chainsawin stuff her daughter's into is all about. Ma::yourock:

Hi folks, It was mentioned to me to give a shout out to Grande Dog for some door prizes for our GTG. I contacted him and he replied with this, (I copied my PM, hope thats ok.)
(quote)Howdy Andy,
I've started doing something new for the GTG's. If you're interested, I'll hook you up. If you read the Iowa GTG thread you might have seen something about it. We basically donate one of our SBN 390 short blocks and the tools needed to change it. What you'll have to come up with is a donor 029/290, 039/390, or MS310. After the saw is fixed, I would like to see it raffled or donated to a local good cause of your GTG's choice. The idea is to see how fast it can be changed out. There will probably be 2 different times. One would be with manual tools, and the other would be with the tools of the assemblers choice.
To make it fair, the donor saw would have to be disassembled, cleaaned, and reassembled before any timing.
Let me know if you would be interested in doing this.
Regards

This sound like it would be kind of fun. Does anyone have one of the saws mentioned above they would be willing to donate to the cause? Let me know as soon as possible so I can let Grande Dog know to ship me the stuff. I would think it would be neat to watch Tree monkey or Grandpa tractor try his hands at a speed short block replacement, (or anyone else that knows these clam shell Stihls real well.) If We do this we could raffle the saw off at the end of the GTG and donate the proceeds to Something good, (local food shelf, breast cancer research or whatever you all think.) Again let me know.

Yup, feel free to bring the family. We dont have any kids but there may be others around. I might as well say it now, feel free to bring along some beers or whatever you would like to drink but please repect us when we ask you dont partake untill after the sawing is done. We want everyone to have a good time but above all we want everyone to be safe.

Kids are highly recommended! Otherwise we have to rely on Pele to go get us food or another beer and he cant always find his way back!

I hate when that happens....:(

I was lost in the big lobby of a Chicago hotel in 2006. It took the guys I was with about 20 minutes to find me.

We walked in I just sort of started listing to the right, like I had a bad alignment.....

Andy,
I have a 290 that has a good P&C but has some other parts missing. If you or anyone else have the extra parts laying around you're welcome to the 290 I have. The P&C that's in it would make a good replacement for someone if they would need it. PM me if you're interested.

I contacted MNfarmer and asked what parts his saw needed and he said "The 290 is missing the fan housing, coil, air filter, and air filter cover." Now I am asking all of you if anyone may have some of these missing parts and would be willing to donate them to the cause. Please let me know. I will contact Grande Dog and tell him we found a saw and he should send me the package he said he would.

Sarah had a good idea for who to donate the saw to, Denny at innerfaith caregivers. We could give the saw to him to use or sell it and put the money into innerfaith.

I am going to bump this on occasion, looking for these parts. I will go on line and look at costs for them as well.
