I need some advice please.

I just bought a brand new (never used) Husky 555 from a Husky dealer on eBay for $496 + $35 shipping. Will come with the regular 2 yr warranty. Comes with 20" bar/chain.

The Husky dealer says that he is selling the saw on eBay b/c it has been on his shelf for a long time and he doesn't want to pay any more interest on it.

When I called the dealer to finalize the deal he told me that it is NOT an Auto Tune 555, so I could not extend the warranty to 4 yrs by buying Husky fuel. I told him I needed to think about this first and get back to him. I think he is wrong b/c when I got off the phone with the dealer I noticed that his photos show that the saw says Autotune right on the saw. Also, I can't find anywhere that Husky made a non Autotune 555.

So, I have three questions before I make the payment and finalize the deal.

1- Did Husky make a 555 without Autotune?

2- Do you think this is a good price for the 555?

3- Since I would not be getting this from a local dealer, will I still have to go to the dealer to break in the Autotune or is Autotune designed to work fine, right out of the box? If I have to go to a dealer to adjust the Autotune, is this covered by warranty or is there a charge for this?

Thanks?

I thought all triple nickels were Autotune. I'm no expert but I've never heard of or seen one without it. I'm not getting the warm and fuzzies from the seller either based on your experience with him so far. What about the MS361 from the Tradin' Forum you were looking at? What happened to that one?

There is no 361 in the trading post that I am aware of except for the ported one for $625. I am trying not spend that much plus I like having a warranty if I were to get a new saw in case a problem arises.

The dealer on the phone sounds pleasant enough but not well informed about this particular saw. The dealer does have a 100% feedback score on ebay.

Over there
1-The 555 only comes with AT
2- yes thats a good price for that saw
3-no need to go to the dealer to break in or adjust anything in just run it WOT 3-5 minutes and you're good.

This guy sounds pretty sketchy

I don't see that listing in active or completed at least under the chainsaw section in what appears to be USA that I deal in/on. If this is a private party sale you met because of another listing and have communicated that might make sense with what is in post 1. If it was me I would want to get a fresh off the assembly line one there may well have been improvements to the item over time.

I'm skiddish about ebay. Found our 365xt that way about $100 below others, but at least they had their company logo there that I could follow up on. You've checked/found their # on a dealer list, so I'd say go for it. Bought a saw blade on eBay last nite--$20 for a $160 blade-- after minimal checking and trusting eBay/PayPal protections against fraud, and was surprised to get the email confirmation with an email directly to the manufacturer. BTW, when I called the dealer about our saw, they couldn't tell me anything about it. Seems they were phasing out the chainsaws and going with Huskies bigger ticket items, like that $8,700 zero turn mower your site shows. Congrats on a good price.

Yeah, on the surface, seems like a good deal right?

Then I researched the dealer on line and found two reviews, not good:

http://www.yelp.com/biz/deckers-repair-service-stuart

http://www.yellowpages.com/stuart-fl/mip/deckers-repair-service-23004430

So, makes me feel unsure and not sure what to do. Since it is new, I will be able to get the 4 yr Husky warranty. Hmmmm.....

Unless I missed something, you already pulled the trigger by placing the bid on eBay.

Pay the man, get your saw, and go cut wood.

No turning back no without some minor scars if you already committed to buying it on ebay. Keep in mind, they seller might not have a 100% rating but if he has 8,000 transaction and only has a few negative feedbacks and is still north of a 97% rating then I'd say hes doing good. Dont just read the negative feedback from the buyers, you need to read the sellers response to the negative feedback to see if it was really his fault or if the doosh buyer was off base...

Sounds like you still need a clear answer about the warrantee policy though... is it 2, 3 or 4 years and what are the qualifiers to get the extra coverage. YOu should be able to ask any dealer how that works as those are per the factory and not the dealer.
