pantelis is sending me somedrawings of the stihl splitter.
If you post the pics and measurements it would be helpful.

I'm NOT looking to go into business, but I could price the materials and make some up. Would only want to do a few and sell to members at my cost. Would keep one for me:yes:

Those look like they'd cost around $30-40 to make, maybe less.

I'm wondering if it would be easier to make with 1/4" stock. Use a long adjusting nut with some threaded rod, then make the split to go over the crank out of a half piece of tubing.

What's the width of the opening of the tool?

Yea I think I'm just going to go w/ the factory tools for crank splitter.. pretty reasonable IMO.. the homemade ones I saw here so far are pricing right about the same $$ too.

My dealer sold me the Husqvarna splitter for $80, they said they use it on almost everything husky and stihl, works fine but as some said to put back together to get things lines up and slowly turn the case bolts evenly, whereas the stihl splitter can put back together, the stihl clutch side splitter on ebay can be had from the UK for 100+20 shipping, not bad, heres the link, plus you know you'd be able to sell the stihl one for as much as you paid down the road if you need to. I didn't have time to build one with angle iron, drilling holes for bar mount studs, and a center hole to put the center bolt from one of my automotive steering wheel pullers to mount onto.

I could easily see making the splitter "H" shaped. Make the top part the case compressor and the bottom the splitter.

May get bulky though.

If someone can post some dimensions it would help.

Bought the husky one from tlandrum and the stihl from ebay, should cover everything
I can take measurements when they arrive

Imagine this steering wheel puller mounted on angle iron with holes drilled in, the center is threaded for the long bolt, which you would turn to engage the crankshaft end, even has the cone shaped center punch adaptor, and you can use the sides to secure it to the angle iron, which is bolted onto the bar studs, may need a couple sets of bar nuts to get the spacing right:

The husky splitter is easy to make , the stihl is a little complex better must find the oem and copy it , from drawings or dimensions is very dificult to make this tool.

I bought my clutch side factory stihl splitter of an international seller for 103 shipped. It just took a week and a half to get here.

I went ahead and ordered one of these... According to my local Stihl dealer.. this tool will not split cases... just mount... everyone else says it does both... which is it?
