I know the shop and have bought chains from them before. Since I was disappointed today at a different shop RDO is my next try. I pretty much know now what I want, and will check it allout with them.

If anyone finds a stihl shop in Arkansas that's worth a crap please let me know. It's always by far the worst experience that I will ever have every time I have to go in one. They almost refuse to work on anything. They just want to sell new saws. And the attitudes in 2 of the shops here are terrible. They act like I'm putting them out just by walking in the door.

It's been my experience, if you go to a Stihl dealer for something, you better make damn sure you know exactly what you want and what it should retail for.

If you don't, it's not gonna be pretty.

Even then it's a PITA over here.

"I want to buy some trimmer line of type XYZ"
Why do you want the line instead of a blade?
"I just need some XYZ line"
"We sell a lot of these blades though"
"I just need some XYZ line"
What trimmer do you have?
"I just need some XYZ line, but it's for trimmer X"
That won't fit
"Yes it will, it's on it right now as well"
Grabs a catalog; The catalog states that...
"I know, it's a mm thicker or so, but it fits fine and lasts a bit longer"
Without looking further; We don't have that line

And then the exact same thing happens for some Ultra oil.
He asks me why I want Ultra, why no premix, claims the other oil types are just as good etc.

In the end I leave with nothing, after debating with the guy for 15 minutes.
Why can't you just give me what I ask for, or tell me you don't have it without all the discussion?

Years ago I was at a Honda shop that sold Husky saws, while waiting for parts I was checking out a big husky they had on display right there at the parts counter. I had to laugh when I saw they had they chain on it backwards.

Did I tell them the chain was on the saw wrong?

Hell no!

I have always wondered if it was sold like that!

I would have asked if I could take it outside and make a couple test cuts

i know there have been numerous threads like this over the years. what needs to happen is to send Stihl an e-mail describing your problems and naming the shop involved. worse yet tell them you are going to buy a hoosky. . Hi Rob. Cedar Grove.

Going off your other post maybe you should call the guy back you bought the saw from and see if he wants to sell it. If you are going to go with a 36” or shorter bar you really have the wrong Saw.

He has listed the 47" chain and bar for $200. I'm still not decided on keeping this saw. If I do then the 41" B&C is how I will set it up.

Don't know why he doesn't sell you some XYZ line If it doesn't fit that's not his problem but hes right on the oil front a good few brands superior to Ultra There seems a trend to the fact that Stihl mix oil is top of the league in fact if you study the specs it's only around half way up the league the company that blends oil for Stihl sell their own brand which is a better in quality & price

No doubt, but he's a Stihl dealer selling only Stihl oil, and the HP isn't as good as the Ultra.
I do see how my post could be interpreted differently though.

Care to share which company that is?

The quality of the stihl oil isn't necessarily the problem, the problem is likely the ratio it is being mixed at. Most of their oil is engineered to be mixed at 50:1 and those will not burn properly if mixed richer than that. I'll mix the HD Super at 32:1 with no problems, but I leave the others alone.
As far as I know HD super is the only FD rated stihl brand, while the others are FB.

I've stopped a few times at The Mower Shop in Fort Smith. It's a family run type place. I found them to be VERY knowledgeable on stihl stuff. They've got a huge inventory on saws, chains, and even all the accessory type stuff (axes, pickaroons, etc.). I haven't used them for any service, but they know their stuff on parts and saws.... and good prices too

There's a equip. rental place about 20 miles from where I live. They sell Stihl and have a pretty good selection of O P E and accessories. They will also talk price with you on pro-level O P E.

They seem to be just as knowledgeable as a dedicated Stihl dealer is. I suppose that could be seen as both a good or negative thing.........

I don't know about your TSC, but ours is full of teenagers and older women. They may be knowledgeable, but not about anything O P E related.
