I read this whole thread, and wouldn't you know it, I had to get to this point to find something worth repping...............LOL!!!

Randy, would you mind if I have that printed out, and framed?

I actually tried to rep Bob, but apparently I have to wait before I can rep him again.

ya want it signed?

Yep, gotta be sharp and tailored to the wood.

Yup . Thats the one variable with the central and eastern saw modders vids that I don't about .

The Snelling + Mastermind powerheads are real preformers . But where they are cutting hardwood and I don't know what they did with the chain it's hard to transpose how they will cut over here .

Pretty, please?

I hope I can venture up your way with Aaron sometime. Shoot, the stuff you could teach me probably would have saved me some broken bones, and torn ligaments............ol' Tramp Bushler would have hated that one, glad I didn't video it.............LOL!!!

I dont see how it could be. With the right chain Randy's saws would cut great over there. Dont ya reckon it would go thru that pine like **** thru a cider mill?
Unless theres somethin Im missin here...I really dont see them runnin bad unless ya ran em with a dull chain.

From the look and sound of them I would say yes . But with the different species of wood that they are cutting (oak , maple , ash ect.) I can't tell .
I'm ignorant concerning that variable .

Wow , now that was awesome .

I wonder if their lunch cooler made it .

google dahlgren logging ,they have some vids of logging and yarding ,very top notch company, the lunch cooler are the other guys in town here ,the tv show isnt anything like them in real life ,that stuff is all staged

What chain do ya mainly run? Square chisel? I understand some of those trees can be stringy, fiberous for lack of a better word. I guess ya use semi chisel more?

Chisel bit only . Chisel ground or filed . Round filed if no grinder is available . But round is just un impressive compared with chisel ground . If I take my time I can make a chain cut just as well with a chisel file as with a grinder , for cuttin timber . But day in day out the grinder easily wins .

Some of those YouTube hero fallers are a little aggravating. But some of them are pretty good, too. Just because we don't agree with the way they cut or just because it's not the way we'd do it doesn't necessarily make it wrong.

I see guys in the woods that put my teeth on edge...until I've watched them awhile and see what they get on the ground. If they're putting the wood down safely, at a good pace, keeping everything in lead and saving it out I tend to leave them alone. I might not like, or approve of, some of the things they do but it's just their way of doing things.

Everybody is a little different and most of the fallers I see in the woods are productive and safe. I do things a certain way because it works for me...they do the same. If I need things done a little differently I'll tell them and no matter what method they use, no matter what little differences in technique they bring to the job, it usually gets done...and done pretty well, too. That's the test.

You know yourself that if a guy comes in and he's not making the grade, and shows no hope of ever making it, he won't be around long. He can make all the videos he wants...it won't make him a faller.

That's not only the voice of experience. It's well thought-out and well written. Rep on the way!

Ooops, can't rep ya. Apparently I've repped ya once within the last 2 years and have to spread it around. :monkey:

Tramp check out some of the videos on plaws22 on youtube. We did some chain comparisons in cherry which is a kinda soft hardwood. The square chisel was a lot faster. I think most of the videos are labeled in a thread on here mini gtg 5-1.

ever since i got my razur2 silvey i havent ran anything but semi skip square ,its like adding 10cc to your saw over round in the wood around here
