how about a sprocket tip for a VINTAGE Oregon bar, the one with the semi-circular bar interface as opposed to the 'notch' interface that they use on recent bars. Must be for 3/8 pitch. Even if you have to drill it off an old bar it's OK as long as it has some life left in it.

Do you have a picture of what your looking for?

Got a couple 32" stihl brand full skip rsc chains. One is brand new and one has made a couple test cuts. They are 3/8s and .050 gauge.

Actually, the last bar in the first pic is the most interesting to me as it has the same type of tip that I'm looking for. I have a source for a 36" bar with that tip but it's for .404 pitch, which means I need to swap tips. Now if only your bar in the pic has a 3/8 pitch tip sprocket!

The Oregon three-rivet tips for the short bars (as pictured on Volks-man's bar) are not the same tips for the longer bars (bars longer than 32".)

The reason for this is that Oregon made those three-rivet tips in three different contours, for the short, medium, and really long bars. They're not interchangeable.

Same with the Stihl Bars, I've found, but it's two contours instead of three. I have in my 'pile o' bars' a 25" Stihl which has the same contour as a 36", but I've yet to locate a good used 36" Stihl large pattern bar. But I have a tip to swap should I find one.

I think I have a couple of those bars? What does it need to fit?

I'm looking for a Stihl large pattern 36" with .063 gauge. Either sprocket or hard nose is OK, but if it has a sproket, it needs so be for 3/8 pitch. Sprocket is preferable as it will be used for milling.

there are no markings on the tip other than 'oregon'.
i draped a loop of 3/8 over it and it pulled around smoothly. the points on the sprocket all meshed nicely between the drivelinks.

the guage mic-ed out to about .070-.075. i think it might be .63 worn a bit, but i don't know much about it, or bars in general.

if you can use it, let me know.

Anyone have a MS441 for sale?

Since buying the ms211, and seeing how well it can handle bigger cuts, I feel I can replace the ms361 with something bigger.

I figure the ms441 would be the next logical step for me in the Stihl product line. I have not considered other great alternatives from Husky or Dolmar, because I don't have good dealer support for those brands. So, I'll just have to continue to "get by" with the Stihl product offering. :)

I thought about the ms460, but I think I would prefer the refinement offered on the 441, instead of the extra power of the 460.

So, if you have a ms441 for sale, please drop me a PM.

Thanks

BTW... I have an excellent ms361 to offer as partial trade for anyone looking to down size or add something a little smaller to their collection.
