Ok I got one that’s in really good shape what’s a good size bar to run on it?

They are ugly as sin, heavy, slow, smokey- but near impossible to kill.
Just a good honest old grafter of a workhorse saw- go good with a 16-20 inch bar and chain for the 610-650's.

Not sure if this belongs...

Snagged a 900evl runner. Appears to be a 30" Oregon bar on it by my measure (~31" from rear bolt to tip) Missing palm trigger and chain brake: $300 local on FB. I actually saw two saws that struck me as pretty reasonable deals last week... this or a Jonesred 2095 turbo ($600). Looked like both were pretty well regarded saws; but concerns about finding parts keeps them as mostly collector pieces. From what I read the Jonesred was a little bigger and better power/weight; plus came with a 36" bar. This one cost half as much and didn't require driving 1.5 hrs there and another 1.5 hrs back to pick up. Figured it'll give me a decent saw to let me do cutting that my 18" plugin saw can't handle without having to pull my G070 off the mill (and maybe swap out the ripping chain). Might even strap it down in the mill and see how it does one of these days... but with parts concerns maybe not.

A bit of a different "you suck" due to the background story on this saw.

My grandfather & great grandfather owned a sawmill in Michigan up until the 90s, and was also a Jonsered dealer at the time. When my parents married in 1990, he gifted my dad a small Jonsered saw as a wedding present to help keep up our 20 acres. This was the saw I first learned to cut with, and have many memories with it.

When my dad passed away in 2009, my mom had a garage sale and sold off many of my father's tools, including this saw as it wasn't running. (I still have a lot of his tools though). That was the last I saw of Dad's Jonsered from their wedding.

Fast forward to a couple years ago, I was talking with my good friend Joe over some drinks at deer camp, and mentioned how I wish that I would have kept his old saw. Joe then tells me that he was the one who purchased the saw from my Mom, and it has been sitting in it's case in his barn untouched ever since. Next time I see Joe, he gives me the saw back no questions asked. I couldn't believe it!

Digging into the saw this last year, it needed a fuel tank gasket for the 2 piece tank, and it was low on compression at 105lbs. Luckily the piston was ok, and I was still able to order the OEM piston ring and tank gasket. A quick rebuild and compression was back to 150+ and it was alive again!

Here's the saw today - it's a ~1990 Jonsered 380. (Same as a Husqvarna 38). Made in Canada by EMAB. Not a very high RPM saw, but I was surprised how torquey this little thing is! Cuts pretty well all tuned up with a new chain! Glad to have it back!

Ran across these while visiting my scrap yard someone was actually going to scrap these! Not on my watch lol I approached the gentleman while he was waiting in line for the scales, and asked him if he planned on scrapping them he said yep trying to de-clutter I was told him I’d give him 50 for the lot he almost broke my arm getting the money outta my hand but little did he know I was more excited than him… little update 4 of them run the poulan runs but needs a clutch the 310 runs from what I seen only ran 10 sec before I shut her off, the 021 same thing and of of the husky’s. Not bad at all…

Good score! $50 for all those saws definitively deserves “you suck.” Lol!

Couldn't turn down a free Poulan with case, especially the 50cc version.

No spark, but readjusting the coil Gap fixed that along with a NGK plug. That Chinese spark plug included was junk.

Also needed a set of carb diaphragms and fuel lines. Low speed carb circuit was also plugged.

Actually surprised me how well this thing runs! Took about three turns out to get the carb adjusted. Have it set a tad Rich at 12.7 k RPMs now. It would do better with a 16 or 18 in bar, but not bad. Would make a good loaner

Picked up two saws today from two different guys. One was $30 (Poulan) and the other was free (Mac)

The McCulloch runs when I squirt fuel in the carburetor. Its tank however is full of this black slime.

Snagged another Stihl FS250 today for $100 that looks to be hardly used.
It was located on the other side of the Cascade passes from me and almost 200 miles away.
I told the seller that I didn't want to cross the mountain passes to pick it up until they cleared, but I would pay him for it electronically.
It seems that he had a trip to Eugene planned, so he delivered it to me this morning.

Picked up this Jonsered 2252 for $225 from marketplace. Part of an estate sell off. I have been wanting a 545/550 for a while now, the price was finally right.

Was dull and dirty, but easily cleaned right up. Mint OEM bar, spotless P&C. I can't imagine it had more than 5-10 tanks through it. It will likely get a muff mod & thinner base gasket at some point.

Red looks good on the trail rig!

That's a beautiful saw. There's one for sale locally for $350, but I can't justify it. I bought two of the Redmax version (GZ5000) brand new a couple years ago on clearance for $375. The Jonny decals would be nice, but that's a lot of money for a badge. Fantastic saw, though! Enjoy.

Decent running Jonsered 2150 for $100, with 4 nice Stihl RS chains included.

Cylinder fins smushed up but still runs well, has the typical intake leak. I have an OE 346xp top end on the shelf that would work perfect. 😈

Marketplace ad was for a Husqvarna 340 parts saw that won't run for $40. Took about twenty minutes to tear down and clean the build up gunk off the coil, and she runs good.

I just purchased all these saws for $75 and had a local friend pick them up for me yesterday.
I "needed" a Poulan 5200 parts saw just in case my runner had issues. I want to get the SP80 up and running for the fun of it.
Wondering what the partially buried Mac is under the chainsaw case.
A couple long bars under the Wild Thing for good measure.
The Mac 3200 and the Wild Thing are scrap unless the run, in which case they will be gift saws.
More pictures next week after I pick up my treasures.

I ran across these traded a ms170 for all of em… anyone know anything about them? Or if they’re good saws the homelite runs great haven’t tried the others yet

Well, they will be fun for you to tinker with and learn from.
You possibly traded down, but you got a lot of fun time for it.

I came across this 2152 at a swap meet on Friday. Nothing major broken, lots of compression. Figured it would be a little spendy. Seller saw me fiddling with the saw and said he was asking $40. I tried to remain calm and cool as I pulled out my wallet.

Brought it home and it fired on one pull and idled happily. It took a little extra time with the file to clean up the chain but she runs perfectly and cuts like butter!

So what if I already have two 2152's. For 40 bucks, you can't go wrong!

Curiously, I've purchased several used Jonsered saws over the years and almost all of them have come with a Jonny scabbard. That's a nice touch...

I picked up this bad boy today for $40. It seems to have pretty good compression. Hopefully it just needs a good cleanup and maybe a tuneup. I really dig it! It’s my first Homelite.
