    Does this seem safe?

i say get it, and i also say hang around on this site a little and you'll end up getting some other saws pretty quick. Better to use a saw with a chainbrake for the most of your cutting, especially if your teaching somebody, but theres no harm in using saws without chainbrakes once in a while...

    Ice Fishing holes with chainsaw

haven't ever tried it - not too much ice fishing down under! But i couldn't imagine it would hurt the sprocket, if it were me id just pull the clutch cover off afterwards and dry it all out with some air and maybe a quick squirt of some wd40 etc

Creepy crallys while wood cutting (pics)

Haha you guys crack me up, huntsmans are that common over here, and they really are pretty harmless, the really don't bite unless stirred up and it takes a bit I'm not keen on spiders, but don't worry too much when i see these out the bush, Far less harmfull than a brown recluse/mouse...

    When is enough is enough

Hell no, keep it and look for another saw - just retire it and maybe freshen it up if you get time, maybe a 365/372 or 440/460 would be good.

    Big Bar

Thats a big bar - also a hella lot a money! If it looked well used imagine how worn the internals would be pulling a 72 inch bar - provided thats what it was used with. Ive got the 090 for bars that big - but have no idea what i'd ever need a bar that size for:dizzy:

    chains and rakers - rant

Can't believe the number of people ive come across in the past couple of months who take the chainsaw into the 'local old guy who sharpens chains' or the hardware to get their chain sharpened, i'm not talking about taking a few loops of chains in either - the whole saw and one chain fitted...

How tight should the chain be?

Something along these lines: obviously ive got the scrench on the nut as if to tighten it and the chain is loose, but you get the picture, just hold if like this when tensioning and tightening.

How tight should the chain be?

Agree with bob, also, when you adjust it, then go to tighten the nuts lift the end of the bar up (the bar will have a little up and down play when the nuts are loose - you want it in the up position when tightening) I always tighten the back nut first then the front - although put them both on...

    My new to me 070.

Congrats on the new saw:rockn: unless youve really got a use for 137cc's i'd be leavin it stock (if it aint broke don't fix it) Maybe if you need to put a new piston and or jug on it then go to the big one but at 150 psi id say it'll last a while yet and won't be short on power. Paint looks...

    Stihl 660 Intake Airfilter ?

I run the stock filter setup and just give it a good wash in the kitchen sink with warm soapy water, not sure if this is the ideal way - used to wash dirtbike filters with kerosene and oil them - but considering the stihl filter shouldn't be oiled i don't use kero just plenty of warm water. You...

First mill - with progress pics

Yea bob thats a good point about the GB inboard mount, thats why i'm in no hurry, may as well try and make it right. I'll do a search and have a look at your nose clamp as when i sat the uprights in place there was quite a bit of the nose on the outside. I'll definately look into aluminium for...

First mill - with progress pics

Heres a few pics of a mill i started making, at the moment ive got the saw - 090, 42" bar, and have made up the uprights/adjusters. I opted to go for the screw adjusters as there is no chance of them moving during operation, I intend on using an occy strap to hook the adjustment handles...
