    Finally got it!

Good for you! Make sure your wood is dry. Is that an Avalon Stove? what sort of burn times are you getting out of it? I learned alot at a site called **********.

    Would you buy?

If it's mint that's a real good bargin. I have a 026 with the non-adjustable high speed jet. It runs good, and has for years. Great fire wood saw! At times it sounds a little lean, but maybe it's just me. If you get it open up the muffler and retune it, if it has an adjustable high speed...

Price on dropping a few trees from a tree service?

You are smart to pay someone to drop them, if you don't feel 100%comfortable. It's not worth the risk of wrecking your house.

    husqvarna 576xp starting issue

Anything is possible. My friend purchased a new Husky 450. He ran 1 tank of mix through it, and it would not start. Brought it back to the dealer, and it was a split fuel line! I would take it back to the dealer. You paid good $ for that saw. Maybe you can take it to a closer dealer.

    Advice on Fireplace Inserts

I have an Osburn fireplace insert. They are not extremely popular, but they are reasonable priced. See if you have a dealer around you, and take a look at them. I would go with the largest unit/firebox you can afford. There is also a site called ********** that is all about people, and their...

    Saw paracitic wasps in action.

Bald faced Hornets are viscious! I was stung 3 times by them yesterday. Feels like a hot pin being jammed into you.

    Todays hickory haul

I feel your pain. I have a similar splitter. It's an old Sears model splitter I picked up for $150. It needed a carb diaphram and tires. I usually am working on my knees or sitting on a Milk crate when I use the splitter. But for splitting Hickorey, you NEED a splitter for that stringy wood...

    Buying a used chainsaw ...

Pull the muffler and look for scoring on the piston. Also, ask if you can cut a log with it to see how it runs.

Homeowner looking for a a good all around saw

Going from a Old 57cc saw to a New 40cc saw is a huge step down in power any way you cut it. I would look at a 50cc saw with an 18" bar. Stihl 250 or Husky 450 If you are in wood under 12" I would also look at the husky 445 (45cc) with a 16" bar. It's 10.8 lbs

    Pinto (off topic)

Put on a 4" fart can muffler on it. That will make it go faster.....not. I hate thoes fart can mufflers on all the Honda Civics. In my day if you wanted to go faster you get a Holley 4 Barrel and a pair of Headers. That's what I did.

    Nothern Tool cant hook

For a cheaper model form Northern tool, there is a Fiberglass handle one for $44.99 on sale. My friend just got one and it is VERY sturdy and solid. For the occasional user this is a awesome buy. I was skeptical about the fiberglass handle, but it is very thick and does not flex at all...

New to me Husky 385xp aka Overkill Saw!

Very nice 385. In hardwood over 20" is where it will really shine. I like your Univent too. I wish I had the $ when Baileys was selling them.

I'm a house painter. In CT we had 3 sunny days last month. I'm really in bad shape with this weather.

Nice job Blood. You sure that wood is not rotten? That saw is a screamer! Lets see some more vids in a nice big piece of Oak.

    Sawdust in pool

I agree with this 100%. I have a Pool, so I can relate. I would bring my Camera or Video camera with me when the Pool guy comes to see what the problem is. Also if you mentioned that you may get some chips in the Pool, it should have been the caretakers responsibility to cover the pool before...

Need second saw (60-70 cc) to complement 50 cc

I think $650 is too expensive much for a really used old 066. I would look in the 70cc range saw, and run a 24" bar. Maybe a used 441, 440 or 038 mag. I think a 50cc and 70cc saw is the perfect combo for Firewood duty.

    pics of my new saw...

She looks good. I hope it's a good runner for you. Before I did anything, I would take off the muffler and look for scoring on the Piston.
