Lets Play a game...how many mistakes can you spot.

What's with all the throttle blipping? "zzz, zzz, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, zzz, zzz, zzz, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, zzz, zzz..." Tourette's of the finger I reckon.

Does anyone have any uses for old chain?

A friend of mine tosses his chains when they're too dull to cut anything. Someone got it in his head that you can only sharpen a chain 3 times max so he just gets a new chain when one gets dull. My jaw hit the floor when he said that.

Parts that *don't* make sense to buy on Ebay...

Chains are cheaper on Ebay than my local dealer. A new chain from the dealer is $31 and you can get the same one on ebay for $15 plus about $5 for shipping.

    stupidity stories

I've done that a bunch of times, it's the only way to get those stupid squirrels that shred my bird feeders. Every time I walk outside with a rifle, all the wildlife disappears. I have another short one. My little Poulan had the fuel line fall apart on it (that's what made me get the Stihl)...

    stupidity stories

I was using my truck to pull 4x4 fence posts out of the ground with an army strap that's used to transport 105mm Howitzers via helicopter. That strap would stretch a lot when you got a run at it, that made it great for getting stuck vehicles out of the mud but not so great for pulling fence...

    Should I? Nah, too easy.

    How many cc"s is a sthil ms290?

The cutting speed on mine doubled when I replaced that junky low kickback chain with a RSC chain. So the one you used must have had a safety chain and maybe a 20" bar.

    Timberjack

I just dropped a couple oak trees that were about 16" around at the base to test the timberjack out and that thing worked like a charm. Both trees had a really strong bend to them so it took a little muscle to get this thing to pick them up but the teeth didn't slip a bit. At one point, one of...

    Timberjack

Well my dad hasn't finished cutting the hook out of that piece of plate steel that I had yet and I was off yesterday so I went out there and made a hook. I need to modify it a little bit because I was going off memory from looking at them on here and I remembered the angle of the hooks end...

    Good blade for brushcutter??

I've had one like this http://www.edgeandengine.com/webstore/wecs.php?store=edge&action=display&target=OEP+41-924 sitting in the laundry room for years and the other day I got the brush cutter attachment for my Troybilt weed hacker and the 4 way blade that came with it sucked. I was going to...

Need a lighter weight compromise saw for tornado damage.

I had my 18" bar buried in 30"+ oak and it did just fine. And that was with that crap low kickback chain. For cleanup duties with just a few 30" trees it should be fine. It's not like he'll be cutting 30" trees all day every day.

    McColluch Timber Bear

Hey, I have one of those. It's a late 90's model and it doesn't run either. The gas I poured out of it when I got the saw was like molasses. With the weight of it, I bet you could just wrap a rubber band on the throttle and drop it on a log that you're bucking to save your back.

how hard a chainsaw must be pushed ?

From the site showing your saw Am I reading it right that the high rpm is only 7000? Wouldn't that only be about 3/4 throttle compared to most saws already?

how hard a chainsaw must be pushed ?

Are you wearing hearing protection while you cut? The sound of my saw doesn't bother me a bit when it's running wide open.

    Splitting axes

I got that True Temper one from Lowes and I thought it was just meh... until yesterday. I hardly split wood and was thinking about getting the Fiskars just because of how people talk about it on here. But I saw a post where a guy thinned out the head of the True Temper and gave it a nice smooth...
