What's with all the throttle blipping? "zzz, zzz, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, zzz, zzz, zzz, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, zzz, zzz..." Tourette's of the finger I reckon.

A friend of mine tosses his chains when they're too dull to cut anything. Someone got it in his head that you can only sharpen a chain 3 times max so he just gets a new chain when one gets dull. My jaw hit the floor when he said that.

Chains are cheaper on Ebay than my local dealer. A new chain from the dealer is $31 and you can get the same one on ebay for $15 plus about $5 for shipping.

I had my 18" bar buried in 30"+ oak and it did just fine. And that was with that crap low kickback chain. For cleanup duties with just a few 30" trees it should be fine. It's not like he'll be cutting 30" trees all day every day.

Hey, I have one of those. It's a late 90's model and it doesn't run either. The gas I poured out of it when I got the saw was like molasses. With the weight of it, I bet you could just wrap a rubber band on the throttle and drop it on a log that you're bucking to save your back.

From the site showing your saw Am I reading it right that the high rpm is only 7000? Wouldn't that only be about 3/4 throttle compared to most saws already?

Are you wearing hearing protection while you cut? The sound of my saw doesn't bother me a bit when it's running wide open.
