I have cronic bi-lateral kidney stones. First time I had them I thought I was dieing (also the first time I had ever been to the hospital). The Doctor told me I had pockets of them. No insurance so busting them up is out of the question for me. I pass em as they come anymore- usually 2-3 times a year. Drink lots of beer and hit the lazy boy. First time I had them they gave me some miracle IV called deladen (spelling) that stuff is fantastic.:rock:

Dilaudid = Hydromorphone

Do u know how big it is ? I have had many fights with them little buggers. I have had surgery three times in the last year an a bit.The largest one I have passed so far was 7.4mm. Passed the monster 4 days prior to surgery. The worst part is getting them from the kidney to the bladder. The key is LOTS of WATER. Drugs that help, (suppository) indomethacin,( flomax) tamsulosin hydrochloride .4mg, morphine sulfate 10mg an travel tabs(take prior to morphine). When the pain starts to move down around your belly button an into your pelvis area, then the stone is almost into your bladder. Another trick is try to hold off peeing , then when you really have to go the extra pressure will help pass the stone out if its in the bladder. You can drink a ton of beer too, helps with the pain an you pee lots. Back in the day that is how they treated people an gave them a case of beer lol. Most women would rather give birth than have kidney stones. They will bring the toughest of men to there knees an put them in the fetal position crying like a little school girl . Don't panic if you start peeing blood, unfortunately that is common an that is the stone coming through the ureter. They look like shards of glass that have been glued together an are mean looking shapes.Usually takes 3-5 days to pass it into the bladder. I feel for you, good luck. To bad you weren't closer, I would share my arsenal of drugs with you.

i managed a decent bit of sleep last night but woke upthis morning to the pain meds being worn off and stone is moving. the meds should ease up the pain soon. as long as this little bugger is taking youd think it was traveling 500 miles to get out of me.

I had a kidney stone while in college years ago and know that pain. It will be overwhelming, then just suddenly stops. Hope you pass it soon.

Multiple trips to the ER, ultrasound treatments and Specialist Visits are very costly. Hope you have good insurance. I spent a few hours in the ER last year for heart racing/high blood pressure, and the bills were about $2500.

Or just tell them you're an illegal immigrant from south america and you get all the treatment for free! Sorry, had to do it.

Hang in there Terry. Relief is coming soon.

I have felt your pain brother!! Had one 2 yrs ago completely blocked off my left kidney. It was massive! 5 days later finally got into urologist and immediately put me under for lithotripsy. Hydrocodone 10 wouldn't touch it. Demerol made mine tolerable. There's also a pill urotral not sure on spelling but it dilates the ureter and will ease the passing.

Terry, one thing I found when I was going through this, is lemon juice will dissolve the stones. I had three stones drop out of the kidney 5-7 days apart and never passed one. I was constantly drinking water with a whole lemon squeezed into a glass at a time. And 2-3 beer between the percocet every 4 hours. Doc said he'd never seen anything like it...

Must of been really small stones to dissolve the stones that quick lol. I drink lots of water an squeeze two fresh lemons every day. Lots of things can cause them, should your body continue to produce them you will need to change your diet. So many factors, not enough water, too much pop, meat Protien, fresh greens, almonds, black pepper. Some expletive only get one an never have another instance. No matter how small they are, they hurt like hell. I will find out in six months when they ultrasound me to see what size stones , if the change in diet an the lemon juice is working . They move a little bit every time the pain becomes excruciating. Water is your friend, drink as much as you can. It helps push it through the ureter. Two of Mine got stuck, they had to go up an blast them with the laser. Sucks that treatment in the US is so expensive, hopefully you have good insurance. An it passes soon :rock:

Mine were not tiny, 2-4 mm if I remember right. Doc said I should be able to pass them without treatment. I peed through a strainer for a month and never caught one. I didn't/don't have any insurance , so the two er trips and overnight stay was bad, but not as bad as the pain!!!

PS, I was doing 4-6 lemons a day.

Kidney stones suck...........damn things hurt me worse than breaking my back.

:msp_unsure:

Sunfish, I can relate lol. 4-6 lemons would do the trick, obviously.I have to use a prescription acid reducer, that's just for two lemons a day. Mine is more preventative measures, they say you can pass up to 5mm stones. Should of seen the doctor an the specialists faces when I showed them the the 7.4mm stone :msp_w00t::msp_ohmy: asked more than once if I actually passed it. I googled cost for treatment of kidney stones in the US an just about Sh$t when I saw what they were charging. Guess I shouldn't complain about our health care system, no matter how bad it can be. It is free/inexpensive medical services :dizzy: . Hurry up an pee that baby out Terry :msp_thumbup:

tonights update, still havent passed the stone but i have passed enough blood clots for a transfusion.

ya heard a high acid diet will help lemons and apples alot ..
And malt vinegar or white vinegar.. they hurt like hell

Man I feel for ya brother. I've had two of them, the second one took almost 2 months to pass. The first one I ended up in ER they gave me demoral I think and I passed it right there in between the shot and waiting to get the scan done. Worst for me was the kidney feeling like it was going to explode. Man I NEVER want to feel that pain again!! My second one was almost 4mm and looks huge to me. I could not imagine passing a 7mm. That has to be some kind of record. I hope you pass it SOON.
