just thought about this. The Total II bars are a taller profile with a larger nose than standard 3/8lp bars. the 14" is still 52DL but the 16" is 57DL. 56 still fits it though but it is tight to get on at least on the Dolmars.

That total bar you have pictured next to the Dolmar one, in Oregon terminology the Total one is A095 and the Dolmar one is A041. Since your on line store doesn't show the actual product is there a link to how to understand the numbering system? The actual hole for the adjuster is closer to the slot on the Ao95 nothing a minute with a chainsaw file can't remedy.

I'd like to stay away from the Chinese and Taiwanese stuff if possible and support my fellow Americans, or at least our allies and neighbors.
The Taiwanese will probably be bummed to hear they're not allies anymore.

someone smarter than me needs to chime in on this one. i havent found a rhyme or reason to the Total numbering system yet. Their bar mount pages just show a picture of the mount with page numbers to the saws they fit.

im also either a cheap skate and my store package doesnt support multiple pictures or I am a computer illiterate idiot for not being able to figure out how to post multiple pictures because i wanted to do multiple pics of quite a few things and just couldnt get it figured out

Has anyone ran 30LP and the Oregon non safety LP chains. Which do you prefer if you have.
I have several of the Carlton N1 and N1C chains and like them quite a bit. I've never run VXL but have lots of 91PX and some 91VX, which are chamfer chisel. When it's really sharp I think the chamfer chisel is slightly faster, but it's close, and the 91 cutters are much shorter so the Carlton is a better value.

My dirty little secret is that I've switched to TriLink lo pro because I don't have to order it. I find it works just fine.

N1C is good chain. I havent sold any 91vxl in over a year

The 041 bars are the correct ones on those Dolmars, as they are set up to oil via the upper adjuster hole - but the 095 bars are of course a superior design, with the separate oiler holes - just not on those saws.

If they have K or A tails really depends on the sprocket size used - but I don't see any reason to use A tails with those saws, even though it can be used with .325x7 and 3/8x6.

Why is it superior? The oil outlet hole in the case is not very big, and as long as it is connected in the bar to the groove what difference would it make? All it's got to do is glurp a little oil into the bar groove.

It is of course only superior when the saw is designed accordingly - which the PS420 "family" isn't. Anyway, it is not a big deal, except that the bar has to be the correct one for the saw....

A lot of interest in this thread and discussion on AO41 bars. Jut a heads up. Look for a guy on Ebay Kpoutdoors. He has 1 Carlton Pro Champ 14 inch bar left. Solid bar (not laminated) with the replaceable nose sprocket. I have several of these bars on bigger saws and they are real nice. I just bought 2 of these. Can't beat the price either.

So i can use an A095 bar on my 421 but i'll need to file the adjuster hole up to the bar groove?
You would want to file the other direction. The piece that fits in the adjuster hole on that saw is not really a a peg but a small bar, I would just make it so that adjuster hits something at 90 degrees. You might want to notch the oil input hole down a bit check and see. I haven't seen any problem with forward/ aft of the 095 oil hole location. Also check and see if oil can get into the upper unused hole and escape as that hole will be a bit closer to the slot than the 041. It sounds more involved than it really is.

Ok thanks.....i can't find any decent 16" A041 bars, Left Coast Supplies has an 18" GB but it has the odd dl count (68 instead of the Oregon 62)
