    Looking for a BIG WINCH

I have a friend who has a 45,000 lb hydraulic winch for sale. It's like new, and comes with approx 200' of 7/8" cable. It's a gov't surplus winch off the back of a M920 Truck. He's asking $1k for it (which is a STEAL! Uncle Sugar paid $25K for it!). If you're interested, pm me and I'll...

    Big Saws

I have an 084 and an 066 (at least I will when Ben gets it back to me). Of the two, the 066 is the one that I use 99% of the time. The 066 is lighter, better balanced and less expensive to run (less fuel, bar mount common to other smaller Stihls that I have, parts are less $$ and easier to...

    New Stihl 070

Cadmium plating, also called cad plating. Used to be very common, but the EPA is phasing it out. Often seen on nuts & bolts and stamped sheetmetal parts. Andy

Need help with Stihl 084 saw

I believe that if you are the original owner of the 084, the coil has a lifetime warranty from Stihl. I would check first, though, as my "beliefs" can be a bit fuzzy at times....... Andy

    372 vs 385 Husky

OK, I was thinking the standard 372xp. Compare the specs before you buy!! If the 372 in question is the Bailey's model, then I would go with a MS 460, or a Dolmar 7900 (if you want to try something new!) Andy

    372 vs 385 Husky

Get the 372. It'll work for the majority of the things that a 25-30" bar will cut, with less cost and less weight. When you put the 32" on it, get a skip chain and take your time. Andy

Not a grinder vs handfiling thread

Many times a ground chain will be overheated as the operator behind the counter is in a hurry and wants it done fast. If you are the operator, then this may not apply. :) Also, with a file, I have found that there is not near as much of a burr left on the cutter when done. FWIW, Andy

    Big Tillotson Carb

When I used to mess with carbs, I had a set of number drills, ranging from 0.008" to 0.060" by 0.002" increments that we would use to open up the jets. Andy

    Review of a WHS 440

I purchased a rebuilt MS 440 with a woods port mod from Dean approx 1-1/2 weeks ago. It showed up today, and here are some of my initial observations. First, shipping was prompt and well packed. Even with the Thanksgiving holiday, it showed up in under a week from when he received payment...
