Home Depot was down 7% last year, Lowes even more. Stihl was up. Outdoor Power Equipment over all last year was down 21%, Stihl sales were up 12% overall. Sales with service is winning.

Glad to hear of such. Maybe the USA as a whole is learning. :)

You mean 90 days? Then bring it in and we'll ship it off to the factory repair center who will make a warranty determination.

Keep it,LOL, my Stihl dealer will fix my Stihl in the morning after 23 months of use, free, under warranty, bye...

i was agreeing with you on that point.
i live on my depot/lowes cards. i sometimes i settle for less (quality/service) when i have no cash.

Yup. Too many are living on credit cards. Probably not the best thing to do, but it sure is tempting. I wish my credit card debt were gone.

Our products rarely come in for work. They work the first time and are built to last. And even if they're a total loss, you can buy another one for the price of your Stihl.

Your offer explains why the guys over at HD here in town send me their customers,LOL

Six months no payments no interest and 10% off your first purchase if you open an account with us today. Take the saw home, and if you're not perfectly satisfied return it within 90 days for an exchange or your money back.

That is for the sucker consumer. You fail to mention that if you miss one payment the rate jumps to 22% for the life of the loan. Or do you actually believe the corporate BS that you spew, in that a company would loan someone money at a loss?

Okay, now someone stepped in dog :censored:

I know that your one man operation has maintained a nice turn around, And I commend you on that, but if you think that is the way most Stihl dealers operate, then you are off of the reservation.

Most Stihl dealers will take their sweet time and give you an estimate that blows you out of the water if they can't figure out the problem in a heartbeat.

I shouldn't complain. I buy alot of the saws they can't/won't fix for a song and fix them for my own profit.

Ha ha. I've got no problem with sending guys to Stihl dealers. Like I mentioned though, it's our credit that cause a lot of people to buy from us. I wonder why Stihl doesn't set up a plan?

I know they will give you these deals. I've used them myself. You had better have some solid proof before you call me a liar. And it's not one payment. For the first six months there are NO payments. After the six months, if you miss two payments within a six month period, the rate increases. That is standard with any credit card agreement.

no plan cause stihl likes their money and the dealer likes cash in his hand just like every small buisness person.
i would think

They could set up an agreement with a credit card company where they would still get their cash and not have to finance it themselves. I'll guarantee you their sales would increase.

all very good but it does not fix the small buisness owner holding a wad of greenbacks problem.
theres just something about cash!

I'm not most Fred. I can assure you there are no saws for sale where I work because I can't fix them. Your luck would run out right at the door,LOL

How many dealers do you deal with Fred? You say most, there are 8000 in the US, how many you been in?

You also base your assumption of total loss and replacing the tool on the basis of a $10 worker. My time is worth more then the two hours it would take to return and buy a new unit.

Keep going though as your corporate brain-washed BS has me laughing.

How is driving into a dealership to buy a new saw any different than driving into a dealership to have one serviced? What do you mean by "the basis of a $10 worker?" That is a complete non sequitur.

yikes man calm down

on these points he's got something.

joe homeowner who lives from check to check needs a saw to clear storm damage. he's got a little room on the card and they offer no payments till 200X. so he gets a cheap saw with no service or parts availability (from the store). but.......

he got the saw.

i've been there.

To be honest many many people buy those cheap saws for reasons just like you say. Alot of them soon realize they shoulda bought a decent saw to begin with and guess what, here they come. Had one man tell me he bought 5 of those low price Poulans before he realized it was time to get a real saw. He's running a 361 now, with service and parts to back it up. No need to buy 4 more of the same saw anymore,LOL
